Follow the Journey: Three Athletes, One Starting Point

On Monday, October 5, we started something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. We’re following real athletes through their training, measuring what happens before and after recovery work, and sharing what we learn along the way.
Three athletes kicked it off: Michael Melton, Michelle Buitron and Pablo Estrella. Each one went through the same session. We tested them, they completed a Winback Recover+ session, and we tested them again.
What We Measured
We used two tools before and after each session:
- Kinvent force testing: how much force each leg produces in the glutes (hip extension), hip flexors and hamstrings, left and right.
- ReadyOS readiness scans: a short heart rhythm reading that shows how well the body is handling training and daily stress.
Measuring before and after gives us something better than “I feel better.” It shows how the body actually responded.
Michael Melton: Race Week in Chicago
Michael is racing the Chicago Marathon this Sunday, and I couldn’t be more excited for him. This week is all about recovery and getting him to the start line fresh.
His readiness held steady through the session, moving from 77 to 78, and his total heart rate variability rose 22%. His glute strength went up on both sides, with his right side climbing from 25.2 to 35.7 kg. The gap between his left and right hip flexors was cut roughly in half.
Our message to Michael is simple: the work is done. Keep the runs easy, protect your sleep and trust your training. Go get it, Michael.
Michelle Buitron: A Strong Recovery Response
Michelle had the biggest readiness change of the day. Her ReadyOS score rose from 80 to 94, her average heart rate during the scan dropped from 73 to 60 bpm, and her main recovery marker rose 37%. Her body moved clearly into rest-and-recover mode.
Her strength numbers stayed about the same after the session, which is normal right after a recovery-focused session. All three of her tests came in above Kinvent’s population reference. Her right side is stronger than her left in her glutes and hamstrings, so that’s where her training will focus.
Pablo Estrella: Building From Day One
Pablo is starting his first training block with us, so Monday set his baseline. His readiness score rose from 76 to 78, and his average heart rate during the scan dropped from 70 to 62 bpm.
His hamstrings and hip flexors tested strong and well balanced from side to side. His glutes have the most room to grow, which gives us a clear first target. This was his first time on the Kinvent, and some of the jump comes from learning the test, so his next session will show us his real progress.
What Comes Next
This is day one. Each of these athletes will keep testing as they train, and I’ll share how the numbers change over time, including the results that don’t move the way we hope. That’s how honest measurement works.
Follow along to see how Michael does in Chicago and how Michelle and Pablo build through their training.
Results reflect individual athletes in a single session and are not a guarantee of outcomes. ReadyOS scores are generated by ReadyOS AI and are not a medical diagnosis. Winback Recover+ is used to support circulation and tissue mobility as part of a recovery plan.
